Fresh blow for CBRE as four directors quit
Property Week 12.08.2005
Staff leave capital markets division a week after Donaldsons poaches team.
Four senior directors in the capital markets team at CB Richard Ellis quit this week to set up on their own.
Hamish Whiteman, James Bryer, Andrew Mears and Jeremy Roger, who all originally worked for Hillier Parker, informed bosses on Tuesday this week in a blow to the global property services firm.
It comes just a week after it emerged that a shopping centre leasing team at CBRE was planning to join Donaldsons.
The team's expertise covers the key investment areas of retail and business space, and all four have a significant number of clients.
They are setting up a niche investment practice focusing on both in-town and out-of-town retail and business space.
Bryer, 39, joined Hillier Parker in 1988 and is head of shopping centre investment at CBRE.
Whiteman, 36, was promoted to head of out-of-town retail investment earlier this year and has been at the company for 11 years.
Mears, 35, is head of business space investment and has also been working for the firm for 11 years. He is known for his advisory work with Arlington Property Investors.
Roger, 42, is head of high street investment and, like Bryer, has been at the company for 17 years. He is known for his work with Hermes and Morley Fund Management.
All four are leaving from the capital markets division headed by Greg Nicholson.
CB Richard Ellis awarded bonuses to staff at the beginning of this month, which is thought to have prompted the timing of the move.
None of the four would comment on their plans for the new company.
